best chiller to get?
Hi guys,
I have a 180 gallon tank. I have never used a chiller before, but will probably need one on this tank. Total water volume will probably be around 280 gallons. I really don't know much about chillers or which ones are the best quality/price to get. Which one will be my best bet as far as quality and price??? I appreciate your response |

I have been using a PCI (Pacific Coast Imports) for over 2 years now.
I really like it. Mine is a 1 hp (which I need because my sump is i a non air conditioned garage and I am in the South). What temps are you starting to hit? Sean

The current unit I have is a very good unit. It's a prime tower chiller and its 1/3 hp. That wouldn't do you any good, because they don't make the prime tower in anything larger than 1/3 hp. However, current has a couple of different types of chillers and most of these come in larger sizes. For what it's worth, I priced out a 1.5 hp unit 2 months ago for work and it was like 1600.00
Also, I just saw one on ebay for 1000.00 and the unit was new. The seller was from new york state I beive. Anyway, there are a bunch of units out there and to some degree, it justs depends on personal preference. Lastly, I saw that doctor fosters/smith has some current chillers on sale right now. Hope this helps. |
