Reef Crystals vs Instant Ocean

Has anyone used both and tested both newly mixed saltwater at 1.026? Is it worth the extra money for a reef aquarium to use the RC? Would it cause any stress on anything from using IO all the time to switch to RC?

Thanks.

I've used both. Both are good. but I like RC better. Ca/alk/mg are all good right out of the bucket. Ca is ~ 420 @ 1.026. Its only $3 more than IO for a 160G bucket from Dr Foster Smith. There would be no stress with a switch.

Alright, I think I will switch to that because I don't dose mg (no test kit either) and my alk is always low.

Thanks.

I've never used regular IO, but I do use reef crystals & like it very well. My calcium stays at a great high level all the time. Everything is doing great also.

I've used IO on fish only tank for years without any problems. When I started my first reef tank, I started with RC without any problems.
