water pump heat

i was planning on running an external pump (eheim or oceanrunner) but i have heard that even if you run them externally they still heat up the water. how much heat is transferred submerged vs. external?

Submersible pumps are water cooled. They have nothing to facilitate heat transfer to the air. If you want low heat transfer, get an air cooled external.
