Galaxy on the back of tank.

Well not quite. I set up my 75 gallon about a month ago using livestock from an established tank. I have a black painted background and over the course of the last week or so little white dots(like the tip of a ballpoint) have been appearing on the back of the tank. They look like stars against the black backdrop. They are hard and I figured they had to be calcium rich. Is this what new coraline algae looks like? It hardly looks like the blotches of purple covering my rocks.

They could be any number of things really. But, I'd guess they are feather worms. I have small feather worm shells on the glass too. If the magnetic cleaner takes them off, they they could be micro brittle stars or even ghost flatworms (these are okay).

I bet it looks kinda neat. You should scrape off some and make constellations.

Haha good idea. It's quite odd because there are literally a thousand against the backdrop.

I'll try to get pictures but they are really too small for that even.

Thanks for telling me what I wanted to hear drummereef. I guess I won't be making constellations for now.

there more likely feather dusters, ive never seen coraline starting off white, and they would be growing in bigger patches

They now have little spiral looking shells. Pretty sure they aren't coraline because I have that growth as well on the back. Probably a thousand against the backdrop and there are some on my rocks now too.

Sounds like snails to me. I have a thousand and 3 on mine. Not to worry.
