Just a pick of my cycling tank.
After my first few attempts at aquascaping I realized I didn't plan where I could put corals. I had made caves for future fish but didn't have any great spots for corals. I gave it a try this afternoon and now I have lots of spots at many different heights in the tank, from the very top of the pillar to the sand. Since I don't have any fish, coral, or inverts yet it's about the only thing I can do to feel usefull. Here is a before shot.
And here is after. A closer shot with lots of little ledges to put corals someday. 3 1/2 weeks and I'm finally getting a little algae in the corner where the sun hits the tank the longest. Patience glasshoppa. |

I'm planning on zoas, shrooms, and softies, or whatever a beginner should try.

They are #4's. They seem great but since it's my first tank I don't have anything to compare them to. They have a very wide flow and are easy to install and adjust.

I'm impressed, Uncle Boo. Really nice pick of rocks and great placement. I am curious as to what you might plan to plant on the big platform in the top left corner.

There is no comparison when it comes to the HK's, those things are great. Good choice on the coral selections. Good Luck.

The top of the left platform gets the most intense lighting in the tank. I was trying to have levels with varying light intensity so I could try different corals. I'm not sure what I'll put on top. I was thinking a colony of zoas would look great if it could cover it all, but I haven't done all my research on lighting requirements yet.

I also am trying to determine placement and types of corals. I have a big tower to the left, also, but the top is only about 1-2" below the surface! I was thinking abot a zoa tower myself, but I too need to research the lighting. I'm afraid my 150w MH pendant may be too much up there!
