Stay away from that one. If I remember right, there was a post over a year ago about how one of those started a fire in a home. Was not good. Even read the reviews from some of the people on that site.

Get a good set of individual timers. I had the coralife power center it lasted 6 days before it just stopped working. I have never heard of them starting fires but shorting out is not uncommon.

WOW, happy I read this thread. I was about to buy one of these. I met a guy this weekend who has been using it for years.
Is it really better to go with 6-8 seperate Heavy Duty Timers? Is there a competitor to the Coralife Power center? I like the idea of it, but if it doesn't work then it doesn't work. |

The person who posted the thread about it starting a fire had dumped a bucket of saltwater on the Coralife power center...
Try doing that with any powerstrip or timer that isn't made for outdoor applications and watch the magic smoke flow.

But it only has 1 outlet, so only one light can be controlled at a time. Doesn't really get me anywhere...
I need something where I can control multiple components of my setup. |

That is why I use the AC jr. That timer I use to control the fuge light, I do not want to spend over 100 for the DC4.

I have used several of the Coralife Digital Power Centers for over a year with no issues. I think they are no worse then most other of the cheap mass produced made in china junk.

I just found out from my friend, who is watching my tanks during my ten day vacation, that my both of my coralife dual light controller just killed half my tanks. The light had probably been on for over 24hrs. I guess I'll be starting all over when I get back. Anyway, just wanted to warn everyone to stay away from the coralife timer. My halides are normally on for 4 hrs and 20+ hrs would be way more than the corals would be used to. I have an appliance timer from Walmart on my discus tank that I've been using for over 10 years. I never had a problem with that one.
