Need help with fuge outside my stand

So I've had this problem with placing a new fuge with my tank. I dont have any room in my sump to add a fuge, nor can I remove my sump from underneath my stand. So if I want to add a fuge, it'll have to be next to me main tank. Is this possible? How do I work the plumbing? I have an extra 10 gal acrylic nano tank that i can use for the fuge, will that work?

Yes, actually diverting partial flow of your sump return into the side fuge which is at least slightly higher than your main. Then allow the fuge to flow into the main via gravity. In theory this allows amphipods that thrive in the fuge to naturally and healthly flow in to the main tank as potential food. CPR makes several varieties that can hang on the back.

The problem with my fuge being slightly higher than my main tank would be higher than 6 feet, and i dont have a stand that high. Can I have the fuge return to my sump? I know this might defeat the purpose and kill the pods, but are there any other suggestions? I was considering the CPR, but my current plumbing didnt allow for any more space since i have an Oceansmotions set up.

Having the fuge return to the sump is just fine. Feed it off a T from your return and have it drain back to the sump.

Yes of course you can go back to the sump. No real harm done. My main want for the fuge is for another mandarin some day so I want the best possible source of pods to be available.

Another obvious benifit of fuge is the macro algae absorbing nutrients that otherwise undesirable algae might use to grow.

You have to make due with what you've got. So I would totally go with putting the fuge return back into the sump.
