How high should I fill my tank?

How close to the top should I fill my 55 gallon tank?

Just make sure to top it off with fresh water to keep it at a consistent level.

I keep mine right at the bottom of the molding. When I see the water level get a little lower than that I know it's time to check the salinity and add top-off water (lookin to get an ATO in the very near future).

Same here. That's the best way to check your water level without a sump.

Me three. I keep my water level right at the bottom of the black trim. That way I can be sure the water level remains constant and my auto top off isn't malfunctioning.

It's probably not terribly important but before I had tanks with overflows I just kept it above the black rim so you couldn't see the water level.
