ro problem

ive had a very bad algae problem for about 2 months now and i got an r/o unit and have been using it for like a week and the algae is contuing to grow....the only test kit i have right now is nitrate and it is at 10, what is the problem and how could i get rid of it?

More water changes. You will get past it. 7 months (according to your sig) is still a young tank. Get an army of snails and continue with the RO water.

I had a hard fight with algae when I first set my tank up and the snails and the RO did the trick for me.

It's all a matter of reducing nutrients and keeping your water parameters in check. 1 week is too short of time to see any difference with RO water.

Test your ro water tds. You will want to know this.

The algae needs food to grow. Water changes tend not to help much if there's too much food going into the tank. Better skimming often helps, and the RO filter might help, given some time. Another common approach is growing and harvesting a macroalga. This article might help:
