what is this
found this cyst like thing growing on the green star polyp rock. It has a clear outer layer, then a bit more opaque layer then in the center of it, it looks like it might have some kind of digestive system. Can some help me figure out what this thing is. Also I found a 6 armed very tiny star fish, about the size of a plastic thumb tac head, he is light beige in color and might have brown spots all over it. He was climbing up the glass and I tried moving him to set him on some red coraline algea thinking he would show up better, and he fell off the rock and now I can not find him. It is not a brittle has short arms, but six of them, is this a paticular species or a freak of nature?

I can't tell from the pic what that is. On the other, google asternia starfish and see if that is what you have.

You'll get better responses if you upload and host your photos here or photobucket etc. then just post them with the image tag. People won't take the time to download and extract zipped files.
But I did look. It looks like mucus from sometihng to me. There are some worms that secrete mucus over their prey then devour it. Has ie been there for a while or just a day or so? The star you describe sounds like a harmless Asterina star. Often found hitchhiking in and can have 1 - 6 or so arms depending on how they are dividing.
