Octopus NW setting

I have an Octopus NW 110 skimmer and I was wondering how high I should set the riser tube? I currently have it as high as it can go and the skimtimate is still pretty dark... is that normal?

Water level in the sump is around 10 inches or so.

as long as its producing skimmate you're fine. dirty water?
