Coral Beauty Angel Fish
Ive had a Coral beauty angelfush for about 2 weeks now, and Im concerned about adding more fish to my tank. My tank is still very young, only 2 months old, and I am far from acquiring all the fish I wish to have. My question is, will the angelfish be aggressive towards any other fish that I put into the tank? Also, Im going to pickup a sun coral a week from today and was just wondering how you guys think the angelfish would do with that as well. My LFS told me that I would be fine with both concerns.....but I wanted to ask the consencus.....

Angelfish can be aggressive, but that species isn't that bad. They sometimes chew on corals. I don't know what the odds are there, but I wouldn't put one into a reef tank again, personally.

I had a Coral Beauty in my tank with no problems. However, be aware that angels can be model citizens for months or longer, and then become coral-munching fiends. I think it's reasonable to give the CB angel a try.

what joey said : my CB was fine for months, then killed my open brain coral. dwarf angels as a species nip polyps in the wild - its their nature to do so. ANY dwarf angel that leaves coral alone in a reef tank is something of an aberration, not to mention good luck for the keeper. anecdotal stories about well-behaved angels that you may see posted here are just that - anecdotal. putting one in a reef tank based on such stories is a one-case induction that could well lead to grief and loss of corals and $$. It's a crap shoot at best. They're my favorite fish, but, like bertoni I'm not keeping another unless I do a FO tank someday. also, as to your other question, the CB should be ok with other fish, unless you introduce another dwarf angel - then there could be trouble.
sorry if that's not what you wanted to hear -rw

A rule of thumb is one dwarf angel species to a tank--get agressive towards each other.

Dwarf Angels are hit & miss. I've seen a flame that will not touch any corals and clams but I've also seen another flame that nip on SPSs. I thought about putting one in my 60G but decided not to. Definitely keep one per tank (unless you have hundreds of gallons).
