i've been reading about plenums and the Jaubert method and wondering if people on here use that or if they would know anything about it to help me decide if i want to use one or not. i already have a deep sand bed (see screenname) and am wondering if it's even a far enough step to bother doing.
also the 'debate' over whether or not jauberts model failed causeof lack of skimming? i don't have a skimmer but plan on getting one when i get more into coral. any thoughts?suggestions?ideas? |

If you already have a DSB I see no reason to incorporate a plenum. It's not difficult to maintain a syetm with undectable nitrates without a DSB or plenum, so to me they're just superfluos if your intent is to maintain nitrate levels. Sure, a tank can work with a plenum and DSB, but why go through the hassle. Lastly, it's important to nore that the original model for the "method", the Monaco Aquarium, was/is fed with with natural seawater. I can think of a lot of methods that would work great if you have a small daily waterchange with natural seawater.
