Question Jauberts plenum and adaptations

i've been reading about plenums and the Jaubert method and wondering if people on here use that or if they would know anything about it to help me decide if i want to use one or not. i already have a deep sand bed (see screenname) and am wondering if it's even a far enough step to bother doing.
also the 'debate' over whether or not jauberts model failed causeof lack of skimming? i don't have a skimmer but plan on getting one when i get more into coral.
any thoughts?suggestions?ideas?

If you already have a DSB I see no reason to incorporate a plenum. It's not difficult to maintain a syetm with undectable nitrates without a DSB or plenum, so to me they're just superfluos if your intent is to maintain nitrate levels. Sure, a tank can work with a plenum and DSB, but why go through the hassle. Lastly, it's important to nore that the original model for the "method", the Monaco Aquarium, was/is fed with with natural seawater. I can think of a lot of methods that would work great if you have a small daily waterchange with natural seawater.
