they are purely show. but I wouldnt trade them for the world. Im at work for 8 hours of my tanks ~12 hour photo period. atleast 2-3 hours of my time at home the tank would otherwise be dark. I cant delay the photoperiod by that time because there is a window in the room and I think it would get over exposed if I extended the light.
plus, the look of my LEDs with the shimmering at night, the corals and stuff glowing... its better than in the day quite possibly.

What Areze said. Just for show, but they're really nice. They add a nice ambience to the whole room after dark.

I love them, and the best thing is they're pretty inexpensive, just some LEDs...

Supposedly they help spawning , but no facts as I know of . Nice to see the critters come out at night . I have lunar lights on six of my tanks in my fish room[basement] and is kinda nice to just sit there and look at what`s going on under the lunars .

I agree with what everyone else said. I have 3 of the Lunar Lights Moon White over my 75G. They make it possible to observe a lot of stuff without a flashlight.
Does anyone have the Blue Lights? I was thinking of adding a couple sets of blue too. |

I have blue ones, I really like the look at night when the lights are out and just the moonlights are shining. Thumbs up from me!

Do they prevent fish from sleeping?

They arent that bright. Bright enough to get a visual on things in the tank but not bright enough to effect anything.

mine dont seem to care. its not that bright. the clam keeps open slightly, where he wouldnt otherwise.
you may want to just time them for when your around, after you go to sleep, cut them off.
