Post My Funny experience on my LFS!

Just want to share my funny experience here. Went to one of my LFS where employees prove that they have a little knowledge of saltwater fish and corals even if 1/3 of their store sells saltwater livestock. I was in need of Cheato for my refugium and just want to check if they have since it's been a while since i visited them and they might have it. I ask the guy if they had chaeto, he seems to be lost on what chaeto is so he ask the 2 other guys. They came back with a great answer that I'm in the wrong store, I can find the chaeto on the supermarket (cheetos) across the street on the snack section. they we're kinda laughing. At first I thought that they wer just joking with me but they are dead serious that they don't know it. Tried explaining that it is an algae and I can see confusion on their heads. Just said nevermind and i left the store laughing that these guys doesn't really know what I'm talking about. Cheers!!

Ahhhhh this is why we should avoid using common "street names" like Chaeto, Pagoda, etc because it confuses many people.

If you told him you were looking for Chaetomorpha (pronounced key-toh-more-pah) he might have known what you were looking for.

Funny story though!

Yup. I did pronounce it with a K. The sad part was I explained to them what it is and they did not even figure out what it is.

If you can't find any at a lfs check a local reef forum near your area and see if anyone has some they can trim back for you. There's always cheato for sale in the selling forums as well for pretty cheap.
