Looks like a patch of closed up zoas. if so, then, yes it will re-attach.

Never mind, I see the pic now, it didn't show up the first time. Yeah, those look alive. It should reattach.

Hey yashua, did you get that on a shipment of liverock? i.e. was it a hitchhiker? If so then that is one of the coolest hitchhikers I've seen!

Why don't you head over to the Zoanthid forums and learn about your new acquisition!

Hope this helps!

It's great to hear this! I'm like that too and I love to learn all about this hobby of ours. You'll find that even if you don't have some of the AMAZING tanks that some other members have, you'll find that they tend to run into the same problems as we (those less fortunate in terms of money or pure eagerness) do. What makes a reef tank successful is the amount of research you have done on your "tank" and how you apply it.

Keep it up!

The slime they are producing is just mucus that they use to protect themselves. They will do that any time they are feeling stressed. the mucus will dissolve away in time. Your best bet would be to leave them alone and they will open up. That is if your water parameter are on or near par. If they aren't . . . don't panic! Just slowly do whatever is necessary to get your parameters in check.

Also you might be interested in what some people have to say in this thread that I started. It talks about zoas reaction to nutrient levels. You are welcome to comment once you zoas have settled in!
