Help - Cloudy water
I have had my 55 FOWLR up for 2.5 months now. I have 65 lbs of LR, 6in DSB, a cleaner shrimp, pep shrimp, 2 turbos, a bunch of snails 6 hermits, 30 gal sump with ref. I bought a Diamond Goby a week and a half ago, he's been hiding (I think) ever since. This morning my water was a bit cloudy so I tested it. Nitrites got up to 1.0, no amonia, trates were at 15 (and have been at 15 for awhile) and PH was REAL low - 7.4 usually 8.4. What could've happened? Still no sign of the goby... HELP!!!!!!!!

The cloudy water could be a bacterial bloom.
Where did it come from: Well an ammonia spike from the new fish or the fish dying could case the issue. As the bioload on the tank changed, the ammonia was formed and the bacteria reproduce and bloom to consume the ammonia. Not much you can do except water changes (and not really needed at this point). Just ride it out and see if you can find the fish. (not likely as it was probably eaten)

My guess too Randall. I would suspect the missing Goby to be the cause but something like overfeeding can also create a bateria bloom.
