Flow rate and Bulkhead Size?

Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated. I plan on doing a broodtank set-up with multiple roughly 20 gallon long dimesion tanks. As of this point I am going to have (1) 1" return to the sump and (1) 1/2" from pump back to the tank. Im curious if anybody has any suggestions or possible current experience on a current set-up.
