How to kill a monti cap?
Hi All,
I have a monti cap that is spreading too fast and I was wondering if there is a way to kill part of it or will I have to keep breaking off the growing edge. It's a pretty basic monti cap so not sure if fragging is an option as people have plenty of lime green and orange caps. Thanks, Henry

just keep doing as you do...frag away. thats the best option.
or, try super gluing the growing edge. it may stop it for a while....but eventually it will just grow over it...

Thanks Ron,
I might try the super glue technique. I just have to find a type that will work under water. Thanks, Henry

Would it be possible to just lower them in the tank to where they wouldn't shade out so much? I was just noticing how high up the green one was...

rbtwo4, JC_UF_ITK, beaupierce, and
I am in NOVA - Northern VA as we call it. I can probably ship out. bluetmax, I have one lower as well . When its lower it just starts to cover the rock like an encrusting monti . Then eventually starts to plate. like this If you look close you can see where this thing is everywhere. The piece started from when I was breaking the cap one time and a few pieces fell and before I knew it were growing as a new colonies...same thing with the green Pocillopora you see in the picture. The one at the top is about to start covering my frag of superman digitata and I am not having that. Thanks, Henry

This thread is turning into a "for sale" thread. The question has obviously been answered. I am closing it.
