Earlier today, a fellow reefer was telling me that he has had disappointing results with the "fuge bulb" recommended by melev. How is that working for everyone else?

I just added a CPR Aquafuge hang on tank refugium. I use the CPR power compact light that goes with it (36W).

LOTS of people use shop lamps you can get from any hardware store, and then they pick up "grow" bulbs.

I have a 5500K spiral bulb I got from home depot. I think it's like 90 watt equivalent. Seems to work OK. I'd rather use a flood with a build in reflector, but I can't find one over 2700K locally.

TWO WORDS: HOME DEPOT Don't waste your money on anything else. Buy a 65watt water proof flood light and 3 prong plug to wire it. They come with multiple adjustments to mount them near your fuge.

Any bulb above 20 watts(more is better) that has a Kelvin rating of 6500 is going to get good macroalgal growth. Also check for full spectrum bulbs, as they will contain the necsesary colors required for photosythesis.
