Millennium 3000 HOB filter on my QT
I purchased this filter that is a wet/dry type HOB power filter for my 15 gal QT tank. Im not home for the next day or so and my wife will be putting it on the tank and removing the small air pump. I told her to follow the instructions to a tee and to rinse off all components before introducing it. Im guessing the filter's pump needs to be primed or filled w/ water manually before its turned on but it should be in the instructions. Am i missing anything important here? I want to make sure its done right.... Also is the pumps 290gph enough to keep the water airated and not need an air pump (i think so)?
Anyone have their personal opinions/experiences on this filter (ive heard good things)? Also, what do i do with it after my QT is over? Should i take the filter media out and let it run empty in my fuge to keep the biological bacteria in place? Lots of questions and hopefully lots of answers...Thanks guys Eddy |

It should be in the instructions. The 3000 should do very well on a 15 gallon size tank (will work up to 30) just like a penguin bio-wheel but less moving parts.
