Stands?
This may seem kind of dumb.... but hey... we are all newbs at some point right
I was going to place my 55g on a dresser in my room.. BUT... it is inedequate I feel to withhold the weight (I will say 550lbs) for 24 hours a day. So my question is... which company makes solid, strong, stands that last for years and years? Or what would you make your stand out of to withhold that kind of weight? All the Best! |

If you have some carpentry skills along with some 2X4's or even 1X2's, a saw and a screwdriver then you can make a decent stand for half the price. Its pretty easy to do too. I just made the stnd for my 180g. Check this thread out for the basic plan:

A lot of people opt to build their own, but if you don't feel comfortable doing it, then All-Glass and Oceanic make good (albeit way overpriced) stands and canopies. I'm in the same boat you are, and I got one custom-made for half the price of a cheaper All-Glass stand from my lfs. (:
Two of the four lfs around here have people custom-building them, so look around and see what your choices are.

This is for Chibils:
Do you remember the names of the LFS that have people custom building the stands? Thanks, Eric |
