Dumbest. Clown. Ever.

Ok, I can't figure this out.

I bought a Condy and a Ocell clown at the same time. They had been together in the tank at the lfs, and they guy gave me a sweet deal on the combo.

After acclimation I put the clown in the tank first, then I put the Condy in. The clown after about 30 seconds goes right to the Condy. I was happy....... till I started feeding.

When I fed mysis shrimp ( for my other fish ) I saw the Condy actually grab some and started to try and eat it. The Clown then rips the mysis from his tenticle and spits it away from the anem, (like 5-6 times)....I was like ok that was wierd. After my fish are fat and happy, I had a small chunk of shrimp and placed it on the Condy. It immediatly started to wrap it's tenticals around it and started to fold up and eat it. The clown sits there and tugs on it till it pulls it away and spits it out away from the Condy......

I ended up haveing to chase the clown away with the turkey baster then feed the Condy 2 chunks of shrimp ( which he ate just fine ) Then let the Clown come back.

Does anyone have a clue as to why my Clown does this?

The clown doesn't realize that the anemone is trying to eat. It is just cleaning it's home. Also, be wary of the condylactis. They are known for eating fish, including hosting clownfish. Condylactis are not actually actually anemones that host fish. Luckily clownfish are eager to host with just about anything for protection.

Travis is right on that for sure. They can be major culprits.
