Skimmer recommendations
I started up an 80-gallon reef about 3 weeks ago and am looking into protein skimmers. I'd like something that can hang on the back of the tank and that is from a reputable brand. I've been researching skimmers for several weeks, but there are so many options out there, it's difficult to determine which are the best. Are there any brands/models you would recommend? Also, how do you feel about needlewheel skimmers? Thanks for any help! I appreciate it!

Bermuda Aquatics and Deltec are going to be your best bet for hang on.

If you don't have a ton of money to spend, coralife super skimmers are pretty good needle wheels, regardless of what people who don't have one say. They're certainly not the best, but for the money you'd be hard pressed to find a better hang-on needle wheel. I would always recommend that you check on ebay.

Agree with Bermuda Aquatics, they are seriously a great product, but why a hang on for such a large tank? No fuge?

First decide what type you want to go with, needlewheel or beckett seem to be the 2 favs. then shop cost.
