Calcium Reactor vs Lime Water
This is probably a noobish question, but I'm a little confused. Does a Calcium Reactor nullify the need to dose lime water (kalkwasser) in top-off water? Are both techniques used to solve the same problems with depleted calcium?
Thanks, Steve |

A calcium reactor can provide all the alkalinity and calcium that a tank needs, if it's large enough. Limewater also adds alkalinity and calcium, but is a fairly dilute source. Reactors tend to lower the pH, and limewater tends to raise it, so one or the other, or both, might be useful.

a kalk reactor is usually used with a ca reactor to stabilize ph. depending on how stocked you tank is, you could do a 2 part right now.
