Poor LPS selection lately?

Is it just me, or has there been a shortage of decent LPS corals lately?

When I started out a couple years ago, LFS tanks were filled with nice LPS specimens, now it seems like all people carry are zoo's and SPS. In a way I guess it's good since most LPS are taken from the sea, rather than fragged. Still, I'd like to see some more nice specimens out there.

I know this doesnt help you in CA... but here in Houston, I see more nice LPS than SPS/Zoas. Must just be your market. Suppy and Demand my friend. Start demanding!

I agree. I've noticed fewer LPS corals in the retail market lately. Only ones that you see on a regular basis are Euphyllias.

Is it that fewer people collect/buy coral in the summer? Maybe the demand isn't there right now.

Bingo

Summer is a slow season for this industry. This summer was quite slow for many.

What makes summer time slow? Less demand from us consumers or is it an issue with supply since the divers are on the beach enjoying drinks with the little umbrellas in them?

its summer up here but winter down there, so the divers are staying inside and getting ready to fight floods in monsoon season.
