3' rise in temp with a Sequence Dart pump?

Using a sequence dart pump on my closed loop for a 120gal tank with the pump running the temp goes from 78 to 82 is this normal?

I had the same issue and it should be fairly easy to explain. I put a UV sterilizer in my sump that gives an extra 75gph flow. The increased flow causes the water to flow more rapidly around the heater in the sump. This will increase the convection/conduction of heat. If you did this in the tank then it's probably just giving a better mixture of the water and distributing the heat. Also, and this is a little in depth, but heat is a measure of kinetic energy of the particles of matter. So, the more energy and collisions and etc. (especially within liquids/gases) will give a greater temp. Hope this helps. If you're concerned about the increase in temp, just adjust your heater appropriately. It took me a couple of days to get the temp where I wanted, just make small adjustments. Or, if you're not using a heater, just monitor and make sure you're not having extremes. Also, take temp readings with different thermometers in different areas of the tank.
