can bleached coral get their color back?

i bought some LR a while ago with some gsp on it
and i wasn't sure if it was still alive
after a while more and more polyps started sprouting out
they were the color of xenia though
a pinkish gray
and they have been ever since
there are a few in the back that retained there color

will they ever get their color back?
are they even bleached?
are they even gsp?

here are some pics
without flash:

Most likely Briareum asbestinum (an encrusting photosynthetic Gorgonian)

They have several color variations, but mostly brownish... often sold as GSP, but as acrodave noted, GSP has a purple mat

Grows like a weed, so keep that in mind if you don't want it to take over the whole tank

HTH,
mikey

Here's some good info on Star Polyps and Braireum:

Star Polyps

Green/Brown seems to be the "normal" color... the brighter green might come back with time depending on how close your lighting is to either the tank they came from or the natural location of the polyps you have...

Let us know if they color back up in time

1) As a simple answer to the base question, yes. Bleached corals can get there color back

2) As far as everyone Identifying this coral, it can't be identified from a picture. But, if I had to take a stab at it, I would thinkit is an encrusting Gorgonian. Most likely from the Genus Erythropodium

I would also say it was encrusting Gorgonian, my friend had some awhile back.

Travis,

First, you are right, can't really be ID'd from a pic... I was just going with my best second guess after GSP as I've seen Briareum miss ID'd as GSP... I was wondering what made you choose Erythropodium (not something I've seen much of in the LFS's anyway)?
