No tank requires a skimmer, but they are an extremely powerful nutrient export tool if chosen and set up carefully.

Can you give us more details on your tank? Equipment, maintenance, tap or RO/DI, how old, livestock, feeding, etc.

stricly off size, you could probably get away with a SeaClone150 but i'm sure most here would disagree with this.

I have a 29 and I use the prizm deluxe. Its about 80-100 bucks, and its a bit of a pain in the but to dial in but Once you do its fine for a small tank. Mine has been running for about a year and a half. good luck

I didn't have any luck with the prizm deluxe, but then again, I did buy 2 seaclone 150's over the course of a year before i figured out how to make one work properly, so i was probably doing that one wrong anyways

IMHO it doesn't make sense to buy a poorly designed skimmer, even for a small tank. The problems with most poorly designed skimmers usually aren't just skimming power, but rather adjustability (and sensitivity to adjustments), construction quality, and other usability concerns.

In this size range, my clear favorite is the Remora from AquaC. It uses modern technology, and is easy to adjust, powerful, and very well built.

However, before jumping to conclusions and recommending a skimmer, I think we need a lot more info from the OP to make sure it is the most appropriate solution for the problem at hand.

While I do agree with this statement, since I was able to get my SC150 to fill up the cup every other day, seems like it's worth it to me. Granted the adjustment has to be correct and that can take a minute to learn. But i did go buy a "better" skimmer than the SC's and cannot get it to work as well, from now on, any tank I put together under a 50g is probably going to get a SeaClone attached to it. (remember I did say I bought two before I learned to use it correctly, so don't get upset with me if you get one and cannot get it to work properly, most seem to have that result, I think I'm the "expection" to the rule)

I agree papagimp here. People have always told me the Seaclone skimmers were pieces of garbage but I got one for myself, and it seems to work just fine. Granted they may not skim as well or as efficiently as a remora (or a tunze, or whatever) the seaclone still cuts the cake for me.

I used the seaclone 100 and it skimmed very well also.I had to adjust the venturi valve every couple of days(5 seconds big deal).cheaper than a aquac remora and would be very efficent on a heavily stocked 25.
