question?

i put this in the lighting topic but got no responce. so i will try it here.



i just changed from 3x250 watt halides to 3x400 watt halides. i also chnaged from 4x 50/50 pcs to 4x true actinic. my question is will i see an algae bloom and if so what can i do to minimize it as much as possible?

little tank info....
210 gallon aga with 90 gallon fuge filled with macro algae and a 100 gallon stock tank for the sump. flow is to include 2 seio1100s a maximod, and 1 tunze 6080. return is rated at about 1100 gph.

I don't think so IMO. why would you expect an algae bloom?
Flow seems minimal for a 210g, but I don't know your tank.

i didnt know if buy adding more and newer lights if that would cause the bloom...

turn over is 29x i have mostly softies right now but i am wanting to do more sps. i plan to add more tunzes when the funds come in.

i cant keep the sand on the bottom of the tank either... so when i do get more tunzes i will go barebottom i believe.

I did such an upgrade and no problems.

great thread. your corals and fish look great. i have about 400 lbs of rock in my 210. i agree with the more open space look. i would like to do that too. i thought that i was crazy trying to have 5 tangs in my tank. i have a powder brown, sailfin, yellow, pacific blue, and a palani in my tank... i will be looking to upgrade powerheads here in the near future.
