Current-USA PowerBrite LED??
I have had my PC lights on my 55 gallon tank, Fish and Softies, for a little over a year now and have really been looking into upgrading. Was doing alot of research on MHs but didn't have the money to set them up yet. I have been reading about all the new LED systems but those were even more but sound a lot more appealing.
My question is, Current-USA is releasing their, I would call em retrofit, LED lights and they are very affordable compared to the $2000+ for 48 inch systems. I never really looked at Current because I never really heard people talk about them in their setups. Here are some specs and prices: 12" System 2-10K/2-460nm actinic ..$74.95 12" Link* 2-10K/2-460nm actinic .....$54.95 12" System 4-10K ...........................$74.95 12" Link* 4-10K ..............................$54.95 12" System 4-460nm actinic ............$74.95 12" Link* 4-460nm actinic ................$54.95 ![]() Id have to buy two main units and 2 links (which the links look identical to the main unit) to fill up the top of my tank. So that would come out to about $250 bucks compared to the 600-800 I was looking at MH's for and I wouldn't need a chiller unit. I don't want this to be my final setup but im wondering if it would be an upgrade at all and something I can use until the top of the line LED units get a little cheaper. I guess the system of PCs I have now come out to about 200watts total. Any advice is greatly appreciated. |

I saw those at Current, and they are killer, but they are meant as a supplemental light to add to T5 units to give the shimmer similar to MH, not to replace lighting.
They do work great for that, but if you're looking to upgrade lighting, I'd look at T5's
