Help with GBTA in powerhead

So over the course of the day my green bubble tip walked 30" across the tank and seemed to have climbed up onto the intake of the MJ900 which is on a timer so it goes on 15 minutes every hour. The Nem is sucked into the intake strainer attachment.

What should I do? Take the attachment off and see if it crawls out. Leave it attached and wait for it to crawl out.

I did unplug the powerhead so it wouldn't get more sucked in.

Help?

Nem was an occupant in the wife's tank. Which, well see title.

Pic from a few days ago.

They seem to have amazing healing powers, it may crawl out. I'm not sure there is much you can do to help it. Intakes really should be covered with sponges or some type of canvas to keep this from happening. I buy black sponges from Drs. Fosters and cut a hole in the middle for mine.

Hopefully he will recover.

I really hope it recovers. I really bummed over here. I'm not really used to loosing livestock. This will be the first thing I have lost in the last year.

I removed the intake cover and can see the bubbles through the strainer. I placed the intake on the sand so hopefully it will crawl out. I unplugged both powerheads. Will get covers in the morning. Thankfully tomorrow is my day off.

Sucks there is nothing I can do to help it. Wish there was something to do besides watching and waiting.

Thanks for the help DC.

Well I've seen some pretty amazing recoveries down in the clownfish forums, including splits through it. You might try feeding him a little more it's pretty bleached.

A water change never hurts either.

It was bleached when I got it. the color is actually starting to come out. Currently ifeed the tank mysis, and artic pods. I also toss in a bit of the carnivore cuisine from SF bay.

Is there soemthing else I could give it to help it along if it does crawl out?

Also do you target feed or just let it catch whatever?

First Nem. Wife picked it out. Did some reading talked to my LFS dude, thought I was cool. Obviously my research was inadaquete. part of why I feel so bad right now.

I don't have any water amde up right now but I'll get it done in the morning as well. You think a 50% is in order? Normally I do a 25% weekly. Tomorrow is the day of the WC anyhoo.

The GBTA has moved about 8" from where I set it down. It is still in the intake and is carrying it with it. At least it is alive and moving. . . I think.

Seems like it might turn out O.K.

It has left the strainer and climbed up onto a rock. You can still see some tips through the strainer, but the two are no longer connected.

I'll take pics when the lights come on. Don't want to disrupt anything right now.

Thanks for the well wishes and advice.

Put some fresh carbon in your sump, that won't hurt. If you haven't thrown the extra piece away, sometimes that generates into a baby GBTA. If it's not deterioating, keep in around just a bit and see what it does.

I cleaned the cannister, added carbon, did a 50% WC. Covered the intakes. At this point I'm at the wait and see phase.

The BTA is on the rocks and being hosted by both my baby clowns.

Time will tell. I'll update with pictures when the lights come back on so you'll can see how it's doing.
