glass/algae cleaner
I just bought a tank with 5/8 inch glass.
It seems that there are several magnet cleaners that I can buy for about 25 dollars, and then there a few brands that I can buy for about 80 dollars. Are the 80 dollar ones that much better? Is it worth shelling out the money for a magnavore or something like it? |

the big MagFloat with an Oceans Motions scraper attachment will clean ANYTHING off the glass.

when you say "big" mag float, you mean the 120 dollar one?

I have a MagFloat and like it. I had a Tunze before, but got tired of having to dig it out of the tank if it broke loose.

It's not about how much it costs, as the same one can cost five different prices at five different places. It's about the glass being 5/8 thick. The biggest mag float is the right one for that thickness. Magnetic attraction is a y squared curve. A mag float for 1/4 glass wouldn't have any pull on 5/8 glass. It's about right tool ffor the job.

the large MagFloat works on 5/8" glass very nicely, the XLarge is for 1.25" and is VERY difficult to slide around on thin glass tanks without allot of jumping.
