really could be anytime, depending on alot of things. Some people put a dead coctail shrimp or fish foot in the tank while it cycles to trigger the spike and resultant cycle.

How far along are you?

Be patient and your cycle will be done before you know it. How long has your tank been up? Do you have any live or dead rock in your tank?

It usually takes 6 weeks for a full cycle. Ammonia starts to rise 1 1/2 weeks if I recall correctly.

Different tanks cycle at different times.

My first tank never cycled. I bought 'cycled' rock. I dosed the tank with pure ammonia to a level of 5 ppm and it was gone in a day. Fish went in right after that because it told me the tank had cycled. If you don't get a measurable amount of ammonia after 2 weeks, kick start it like I did.

I doubt you'll see much of a spike with that small amount of live rock. Especially if it was partially cured when you got it.
