Closed Loop Question
Hi all,
I am looking to set up a closed loop system on my 80gal to increase flow and would like to know how this is normally done. It seems that when I run the loop from the sump the overflow (one 1) cannot handle it and I get a lot of air in the system. I have a MAG5 running the sump and a Quiet One 4000 (1000gph) I want to run the loop with. Should I run the loop completely independent from the sump? Any suggestions would be appreciated Sandry75

Thanks Ed,
I have the PVC loop setup around the top perimeter with 4 outlets. How many gph is that pump? Looks like a ton of flow?

3600 gph. That's 360 gph per outlet minus headloss which is pretty minimal.
4 outlets is probably enough with a 1000 gph pump. You might want to add more outlets now and just cap them off until you could upgrade to a bigger pump. That will also give you the option of adjusting which outlets are open and directing flow.
