Seachem Multitest copper - Junk?
I'm treating for ich in a GT tank right now, using cupramine. I have a seachem copper test to monitor levels, but the readings are all over the place... is it possible I have a bad kit?
For example: the test comes with a reference test, which is supposed to be .5mg/L. The color scale is terrible, but if I were to guess, I'd say it is reading .15mg/L. Much worse than this, however, are the actual tests. Today I tested the exact same water twice, within 15 minutes. One sample shows no coloration whatsoever, the other shows slight tinting. What the hell??? so I'm getting low readings, no readings, and different readings on the same water! All instructions were followed to the T in all tests, and the cupramine dosing was followed exactly as recommended, using laboratory dosing equipment including a graduated pipette with bulb(GF is a chemist). Has anyone else had bad experiences with this kit, or do I have a bad one? Also, how can I test my copper levels now to be sure? |
