Mandrain Goby eats frozen brine shrimp!!

Just wanted to let people out there know, Mandrain Goby does eat frozen brine shrimps also besides copepods.

I started my tank 6 weeks ago, purchased a mandrain goby and realized from what expects have told me on rc. My tank is not ready for a mandrain goby due to lack of copepods.

However, i would like to share my founding.

Thanks for all of your help!!

Do note that brine shrimp isn't nutritious. If he'll accept it, try mysis shrimp.

uh-oh, so does that means my goby will did even if he is eating brine shrimp only?

I am working on setting up a fuge tank to grow live copepods. however, that is not going to take place for another 2 weeks until the fuge is up.

Will my goby die?

When I first started I had someone sell me a Mandarin AND a Scooter for my 1 month old tank. Like you I was lucky and both ate brine. I did not add pods as I did the unthinkable and didn't do my research. Both survived and are fat and happy over a year later. They eat everything I throw in the tank. I have watched them eat mysis, brine, and even flake. I do not have a fuge on my reef tank to grow pods so either there are enough in there after 14 months or the combo diet has been sufficient. Keep in mind though that this is not the norm and a lot of mandarins die from lack of nutrition.

If he is eating frozen brine, try to get it to eat mysis as well. I purchased a mandarin that was already eating frozen food. You will need to feed it regularly, they are constantly on the move looking for food and will get skinny quick if they are not taking in enough nutrients. Good luck with yours.

My Mandarin eats anything I put in the tank. As long as it is small enough for his mouth.
