Newbie setup question
I've had freshwater tanks in the past and I am a biologist as well, so I know about water chemistry and things of that sort and am not a complete newcomer. Not saying I am an expert by any means though. I am looking at setting up a saltwater tank and I have a guy who wants to sell me his used:
29 gallon bowfront tank matching black stand 65X2 power compact jbj lighting system with new bulbs powerhead aquarium specialties protein skimmer cpr hang on back refugium He is offering all this for $125 as he has 3 other tanks and is wanting to get rid of this stuff. I know it's a great price. Comments, suggestions, limitations I will have, anything else you can offer would be appreciated. |

Nice cheap way to get a start, so long as everything is in good working order. Your limitations, to start with, will be remembering that you will be limited to smaller fish. With the lighting listed, you will be limited to mostly soft corals and perhaps some LPS. I have kept a monti cap under PC's before, but it just barely survived. Not sure what powerhead is included, but good flow is essential. The hang on skimmer and refugium will already have a powerhead each in the tank to feed those, taking up space. That's what I can think of for right now from the info you've provided. Good luck.
