reef and aggressive fish all in one
Has anyone ever taken a big tank such as say 200 gallon and put a divider in it to have one side reef and the other agrressive fish but share protein skimmer, pumps, etc. My wife wants both but I don't want 2 seperate tanks.

well you have to think about water quality. the fowlr side will produce a lot of crap so you have to be careful witht he reef side. in the end you'll probably end up with one empty looking side since your predator will need space and one reef side.
If i were you, I would just put the predator in the reef. no divider. only thing is that you have to be careful about what predator you choose and what tankmates you put in. a lionfish for example would be a good choice, but it means no small fish or shrimp (and i would even avoid hermits as well). |

Hi Justin,
My wife likes the lion fish, triggers, puffers and snowflake eel. We currently have the snowflake but just put him in the sump because he was disturbing the corals and any new fish such as the naso we just bought. Thats when I came up with the idea of one big tank with a divider. Maybe have seperate mechanicals for both? Regards, Doug |
