Bak-Pak Maxi Jet 1200 mod - How do I do it?
I've read all about the modification people are making to the Bak-Pak by replacing the pump with a Maxi Jet 1200 and have seen some pictures, but I haven't found anywhere that gives me step-by-step directions. I'm planning on getting the Maxi Jet 1200 tomorrow. What exactly am I supposed to do?
Does anyone have step-by-step directions or a link to directions? Thanks! |

What I did was create a new venturi for the pump. I found a tube to fit the intake of the pump. Drilled a hole in it closest to the impeller. Took the end off a plastic needle valve. Put a small piece of oxygen tubing on the end and fitted it into the hole. Hook a oxygen tube to it to the outside. It should pull in plenty of air for bubbles.

WOW, this is an old one! I love how on reefrontiers it says, this will now destroy a remora! lol, yea, thats impressive! Anyhow, with the maxi nw mod this skimmer will perform decent for a hot. I'd say it'll be fine for a 30g or less.

Wonder if it will do the work on my 55 tall. Right now it isn't skimming much at all.
