skimmer worth using?

so i have a red sea berlin skimmer that i got for free that i kinda wanna use on my 24g with a 30g sump. I know these skimmers get some bad reviews on here but i also see that you can upgrade the pump to say a mag 7 and add a kent venturi to get some better performance. I guess what im asking is should i just sell this thing and put the money towards a better skimmer or spend the 85 bucks or so and try and upgrade this thing? Any oppinions????

I've finally learned that it's cheaper to spend more money up front than to do it the cheap way twice then buy something good.

You should spend the money on a new skimmer . A mag 7 is going to put a lot of heat into a tank that size. I had a Berlin back in the day. It worked really well to tell the truth but it was very finicky and I got tired of always fiddling with it.

Sell that thing and use it with the money you were about to upgrade it for something better.
