'Snow' blowing around tank?

Ever since I put in the Koralia Nano, I have more "snow" and bits of stuff flying around my tank. I thought after a few days, it would filter out, or settle down. It has been 5 days now, and doesn't seem to have lessened. I watch the critters in the tank, and it seems the Scarlet Reef hermit and the Emerald crab keeping kicking up junk while picking at the rock. They eat it and then spit it out, letting it fly everywhere.

Is there anyway to have a "clean tank", as in nothing swirling and flying around in the water, or is there always "snow" in a tank? Is there anything I can do?

I should add, this is an AquaPod 24 with a MJ1200 and a Koralia Nano. One blue sponge in the chamber with 3 of the grates open, flowing through the sponge. I change it every few days.

Would adding a bag like ChemiPure in front of the sponge help?

Your calcium level is too high perhaps.

You probably have another tank weather-like phenomenon known as a Sand Storm. Your powerhead is kicking up sand from the bottom and should be adjusted perhaps?

I tested it a couple of days ago and it was a little low, like 320.

Not likely. My sand is 1-2mm reef grade aragonite and is heavy and coarse stuff.

Sand does blow, it isn't too heavy. Since we can't see your tank it is hard to say, where do you think it's coming from? Perhaps simply using a filter sock for a while (or forever) is a solution?

Have you netted some of the "snow" to see what it actually is? Avery fine net or cheescloth anything to see what you have blowing around.

Better to have "stuff" in the water column to be skimmed than sitting around on your rocks. Try taking a turkey baster to the rocks when doing a water change (I rubber band the siphon to a baster when I suck out water for a water change and blow the rocks and sand and suck out the detritus).

How "noob" is your 24 gal. AP? If it's a relatively new setup and you didn't rinse your sand it can take weeks or months for the water to clear up. You can speed the process up by dropping in a powerhead with a sponge prefilter to trap all the particles, just be sure to rinse it frequently.
