Coral Suggestions?

I've got my new nano tank up and running, and I'm wanting to add some corals. It is a 12g aquapod with 2 27w pc lights over it. I've put about 15lbs live rock and about a 2" sand bed in it. Current inhabitants are a firefish, some astraea snails, and some dwarf blue leg hermits. Any suggestions on what corals would go well with this set-up?

mushrooms and zoos would be a good start

Agreed, any discoma sp shroom, just about any zoo (they can vary in light requirments, so place accordingly) the various nepthea's can be nice, such as a Kenya Tree, fast growers, look nice, easy as they come to frag. Star Polyps are another easy beginner specimen, but again, place accodingly, they grow fast enough that they can easily overrun a tank in no time.

Xenia...easy to keep, and cool pulsing motion. Will spread and need to be pruned back.

I would try some zoas, maybe not alot or very exspensive ones yet. whatever you do don't get the dreaded colonial polyps. I did in the beginning...Now they can't be stopped

Xenia and star polyps are great starter soft corals, but they grow like weeds. So be prepared to trim them back a lot.

i second xenia and star polys. in a new tank green star polys with actinic look awsome.
back when i first start my tank. the first coral that attract people attention first in my tank are always green star polys waving under current and pulsing xenia.

I like the look of the long tentacle plate coral, but I can't find anything that tells how big it will get. Would that guy be a bad idea for my tank?

Definitely. I just started my nano about 1 month ago and I have 2 patches of zoos and about to buy 2 more along with a few mushrooms, some xenia and hopefully a feather duster. Obviously I will add them slowly...
