EcoSystems Aquarium question

Ive been out of the hobby for approx 5 years after havind reefs for over 10 yrs. Im considering returning so i started doing research. My LFS uses the Ecosystem for their display tank, its amazing.

All the refugium talk is new to me. DSB was the latest craze when I departed, and of cource the Berlin method very popular.

Is this method reputable and effective? No protein skimmer? ARG!!

BTW- This forum and hobby has come a long way!!

Eddie

my feeling is to use both ref. and a skimmer. Most of there systems now come with both see site and you will see.

My feelings on EcoSystem is that their products are a bit pricey. You can recreate the same things they are doing for much less.

I like using a fuge. It's great for LR, macro, remote DSB, etc. I know EcoSystem recommends their mud for a fuge, but I'm not big on that either.

I also think skimmers are great. I can see there are some setups where you don't need/want a skimmer, but they are usually a big asset to your tank.

That's my 2 cents.

ecosystem aquarium setups are always awsome...their favorite thing to show are angels in their reef tanks...apparently Long Beach Aquarium here in California uses Mirical Mud

Even though you are somewhat familiar with all of the processes of reefing, I would go over this just to refresh your memory and see some of the newer stuff that you may not be familiar with. Welcome back!
