Help ID large worm hitchiker( very scary looking)

http://reefcentral.com/gallery/showp...t=1&thecat=500 Beige worm with hair like things on it body...folds into its self...moves like an accordian...fully observed exteded lenght is 15" and its head is dark...black. Is this thing safe...what is it? Thanks for all the help. |

I think its a feather duster. In its raw form. They will shed the cover they live in and also there crown. If other confirm this then if not dead put him back , or if you have a refugium then add him in there untill you identify.

Feather dusters are worms and look wierd whene not in the feather stage.

The first two links did not work for me, but i did find the worm again @ the saltcorn link. Yep it's a sipunculan/peanut worm...and back in the tanks he goes. Thanks for the help!! |

My id link has peanut worms and i dont think it is. Go to the google bar and type in feather duster then look under images. A feather duster in its raw form are fewer in pics then one in its natural state.

Yep, definitely a peanut worm. The "folds into itself" comment is pretty telling. Very descriptive.
