can you use 250 bulb on a 400 watt system

can u downgrade from 400 watts to 250 watts but still use the same ballast ???

No, that's not safe, assuming you're talking about MH. The bulb won't survive, and might start a fire.

I was wondering that as well,i see 400 mhs for sale cheap all the time but never any of the 175 or 250s

Use only the ballist rated for the bulb in use. Or remember Stop Drop and Roll. hehe Always better dafe then sorry.GL

Why not just use 400 w bulbs

I diagree. Ran a 250 for over a year on a 400 ballast. I switched out the ballast because the color of the bulb was way wrong but no, no fire or explosion.

true. it CAN work. not that safe tho. you cant put a 96W bulb in a 65W ballast. try to experiment with something cheaper, and then decide if you want to try it with MHs.

You wouldn't be so relaxed posting in this thread if 1/2 your house burned down because of this experimentation "trying hard to use nice words "
