Alkalinity level

What is the target alkalinity that most of you strive for in your tanks? I'vr been told a thousand different things in my lfs.

thanks

wow, mine was about 7.9, and the lfs told me to drop it to about 2.5.

I am taking dKH not meq/l, so 2.8 to 4.2 meq/l.

Perhaps they meant meq/L not dKH. It should be 2.5-4 meq/L or 7-11 dKH. I would aim for 3 meq/L or 8 dKH depending on the test you use. These are not equivelent conversions, but they are good numbers to use for simplicity.

Here is an article that gives the recommended water parameters and what they mean.
