t5s vs VHO which produces more heat?
I am considering replacing my Vho's with t5. I am not thinking of doing this because of light intensity but because of heat buildup. So which one runs hotter, t5 or vho?.

well since T5HO is much brighter per watt with good reflectors then VHO it's kinda obvious that the T5HO will output less heat at the same output.

well, whichever is using less power
Watts are watts....and they will produce identical amounts of heat at the same wattage. Since T5's can put out the same amount of light using less watts, they will produce less heat. 51 watts difference in 4' bulbs. |

Quote:
• A 4-foot 115-watt T12-VHO lamp produces 49 to 55 lumens per watt (http://www.elliptipar.com/vertical/Vertpdf/VertGdLg.pdf) for a total of about 6000 lumens. • A 4-foot 54-watt T5-HO produces 93 lumens per watt (http://www.lrc.rpi.edu/programs/nlpi.../lat5/pc1a.asp) for a total of about 5000 lumens. Although the T12-VHO consumes twice the watts (115w), it barely exceeds the light output of the T5-HO (54w). |
