I have had a yellow wrasse for a bit now and they are an awesome species. Hasnt nipped at anything except pods.

Mccosker by far, except for the 6line, but the 6line is a lot more aggresive.

i like 6-lines or radiant wrasses.
but there are a lot to choose from, LA has a good list...

All the ones mentioned so far come with their drawbacks. 6-lines are cute when small, but they grow into shrimp munching territorial monsters. They also have compatibility issues.
IMO, the best wrasses to get are fairy wrasses, flasher wrasses, etc. They are very colorful, and personable like a 6-line. They dont get territorial or nasty with other wrasses (best kept with others in fact), or end up eating your cleaner shrimp. A pack of them will even keep your tank flatworm free better than a single 6-line. My favorites are the solar wrasse (a very durable wrasse, very pretty, but peaceful). They have gotten expensive recently though... used to see them for no more than $30, but now some places list them up in the $60's. Look around... If you want some real fancy looking ones, the sky is the limit with this genus... my personal favorites are the lineatus and the scott's fairy wrasse. Some others like the exquisite and Rhomboids as well... or even Labout's. |

I would look at a Fairy wrasses
The lineatus is probably one of the most stunning of the fairy wrasse family. Laboutei's are also a stunning specimen. I really like the look of the rhomboid's and Flame wrasses too. When you pair them up its alot more interesting and the males stay more intense in color. Here is my supermale Lineatus  Here is my supermale Laboutei  And his girl

If you have clams or intend to have some don't put a lunar wrasse they will pic at your clams and eat them.

Mystery wrasses are expensive, and pretty, but behave the same as 6-lines, if not worse. They like to eat stuff like shrimp if given the chance.
