little white bugs in refugium

i see tons of these little white bugs in my refugium, are these good or not?

also when is a good time to trim my cheato, been growing from a small ball to almost the size of my refugium now....

Moved to New to the Hobby for more views.

Most often, the small animals are good to have. They likely are amphipods, copepods, isopods, or mysid shrimp. I wouldn't worry.

The goal is to trim the Chaetomorpha often enough that it doesn't get too thick, which causes die-off and decay eventually. I would reduce the depth of the Chaetomorpha when it's reached the bottom, and maybe thin it a bit, but try to cover the full surface area of the refugium.
